"Introduction in computer design and animation"

The course is planned for secondary school students (ages ranging from 11 to 16) who have worked with computer as experienced users, and those who have some abilities and inclinations towards art and animation. The main aim of the course is to teach students to create static and dynamical visual performances of different kinds (thematical drawings, characters, animations, etc.) Studying at this course will help students to solve decorative, advertising tasks, to create some designs, to create color and dynamic variants for different interfaces and WEB-sites. When you are applying to this course you have to take a test.

PROGRAM

During the period of studying students should get knowledge on the following topics:

  • painting genres;
  • composition and correct work with visual information;
  • basic principles of creating a balanced composition;
  • elements of color: color and its characteristics; importance of color in composition;
  • peculiarities of visual perception of graphical information;
  • perspective and its rules; kinds of perspective: linear, air and color, air;
  • rules of constructing objects using perspective;
  • performing reality through animation;
  • animated characters (principles of animation): constructing, volume, style, expressiveness, mimics, gestures;
  • national and international cartoon schools;
  • constructing a scene; combination of cartoon characters and environment;
  • main stages of creating an animated film;
  • instrumental means for creating a computer cartoon;
  • vector and raster graphics;
  • methods of rendering color in computer, resolution of the screen;

During the period of studying students should get practical skills in the following areas:

  • main elements of the image (line, color, spot);
  • dynamic and static image elements;
  • creating a composition with the objects given;
  • constructing objects in perspective;
  • methods of creating volume: semi-shadow, stroke, line;
  • volume, style, expressiveness of animated objects;
  • mimics and gestures of animated characters;
  • dynamics and interaction of animated characters;
  • creating a cartoon scenario;
  • making sound accompaniment;
  • editing a cartoon;

Length of the course is 98 hours (one school year)
