"Introduction in programming (Pascal)"

The course is planned for secondary school students (ages ranging from 13 to 16) who have worked with computers as experienced users, and those who have some abilities and inclinations towards algorithmic thinking and programming.
The main aim of the course is to introduce basic concepts of programming to the students, to teach them to define and solve various tasks with the help of Pascal. The knowledge about the language of programming and basic algorithms will help students to learn other languages of programming easily and to solve complicated tasks using modern technologies of programming.
When you are applying to this course you have to take a test.

PROGRAM

During the period of studying students should get knowledge on the following topics:

  • bit and bite, binary arithmetic;
  • methods of creating algorithms;
  • program and algorithm, compilation and interpretation, the structure of the program, comments;
  • identifier, variables, constants, expressions, type, meaning;
  • data input and output;
  • using standard modules;
  • simple and derivative types of data;
  • standard operations with different types of data; changing types of data;
  • control structures;
  • algorithms of calculation, searching and sorting;
  • subprogram, exchanging data with a subprogram; global and local types; variables, constants;
  • planning program modules, specifications;
  • pointers, dynamic variables and structures of data; file input-output;

During the period of studying students should get practical skills in the following areas:

  • main stages of creating a program;
  • means of adjustment;
  • working with data arrays;
  • creating graphical images;
  • creating an elementary database;
  • elaboration of graphical programs with keyboard control;

Length of the course is 98 hours (one school year)
